DESCRIPTION:

This is one of the most comprehensive Simpson Desert tours available. We travel south - north along the Hay River Track, are given a bush tucker tour by the local Aboriginal traditional owners, spend a couple of nights in Alice Springs to explore the West Macdonnell Ranges, travel along the Old Ghan Railway and visit Chambers Pilar at sunset, Finke and the geographical centre of Australia. We take a dip in the Dalhousie Hot Springs before doing a full west - east crossing of the Simpson Desert back to Birdsville.

 

HIGHLIGHTS:

* Climb the biggest sand dune in the Simpson Desert, "Big Red"

PRICE INCLUDES:

The services of an experienced guide who has run many tours through this area and travels in a well setup vehicle carrying all the recovery gear, tools, first aid kits and satellite phone. All camping fees (not including night before), permits, entrances and third party tours included in the itinerary. Price is per vehicle with 2 people in it. Additional passengers in your vehicle will be $300 each

 

CATERING:

We can do all the catering for you for an additional $750 / adult  ($400 for kids under 12). This includes cooked and cold breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps for lunch and hearty cooked dinners (drinks not included except tea & coffee in the morning).

* Final dinner in Birdsville not included.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

You will need a four wheel drive vehicle with good quality all terrain or mud terrain tyres (at least 50% tread), good quality suspension with at least 2 inch lift, a 2-way radio fitted to your vehicle, a removable sand flag to SA gov requirements,  20 litres of water per person, enough fuel to traverse 600km of sand dunes (plus spare) and a sense of adventure.
